There is nothing like spring in New York City. Everywhere you turn there are flowers blossoming - tulips, hydrangeas, magnolias, and cherry blossoms galore. Just walking around the city surrounded by flowers was magical!
While there were flowers everywhere, there were a few places I particularly enjoyed - Central Park, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the West Side Community Garden were my favorite places to stroll and enjoy all the beautiful flowers.
Central Park
Central Park was my absolute favorite place to take in the beauty of spring! I ran through the park one morning and took note of the places with the most beautiful flowers. My favorite spots were: Shakespeare Garden, the area around Conservatory Water, the area around Bow Bridge, and the West side of the Reservoir.
While there were Cherry Blossoms through out the park the best spot I found was a trail on the West side of the Reservoir. When I first spotted the trail my jaw dropped. I'd never seen so many beautiful cherry blossoms! The entire trail was a canopy of beautiful pink flowers. I spent quite a bit of time just walking around and enjoying the natural beauty.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Clair and I went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden the weekend of the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival and while there were lots of beautiful flowers not all the trees had blossomed. I think we were there about three days too soon which is such a shame because I've seen photos of the long walk way canopied in cherry blossoms and it is spectacular. Because it was a festival there were large crowds of people - if I go back I would definitely go during the week when it is not as busy.
West Side Community Garden
We were actually on our way to dinner when we walked by a sign saying "Tulip Festival" on the gate to this precious garden. From the walkway we were at we could only see some tulips but when we walked deeper into the garden we were greeted by a wonderful rainbow display of tulips and flowers.
