Goal Check In: Q2 of 2019

Sunday, July 7, 2019

The last few months have been crazy. Between working a lot more, traveling a lot, and dealing with some personal issues- the days and months have flown by. To be quite honest, my goals haven't been at the top of my priority list lately and I've felt the effects. As I started going through my list of goals I realized that I've let a lot slide and you know what? It's ok. Life is ever changing and sometimes you have to take a step back from what you would like to do to do what you need to do.

Daily Goals

  • Take my vitamins everyday

    • This has been a total fail. I am so bad at remembering to take my vitamins. Last quarter I wrote about putting my vitamins on my nightstand, but I never did that. This time I am going to actually give that a try. I've physically moved my vitamins to my night stand so there's no excuse there!

  • Create and stick to a morning and night time routine

    • With the changes to my work life in the last few months I haven't nailed down a good morning or night time routine. Things were a little chaotic for a few weeks since I was trying to get all my work done between summer trips. I was waking up early and staying up late working and not doing much else. This change in routine meant that I sacrificed working on other goals like working out and reading. Now that I have a better grasp of what my new work schedule will be like and I only have one more trip before things settle down, I am going to work towards creating the consistent routine I crave.

  • Drink eight glasses of water a day

    • Thankfully this is one goal that I haven't let slip!

  • Journal everyday

    • Still going strong with this goal too! I especially love to journal on days that are full of adventure and excitement and am glad that I will be able to look back on my entries for years to come.

Weekly

  • Create something

    • I've been creating a lot of things for work! But I haven't had time to do anything just for fun. My brother gave me an iPad Pro so I am hoping to spend some time drawing and creating just for fun.

  • Workout four days a week

    • I was doing really good up until mid May. In May I started working a lot more and was also traveling a lot so working out feel to the wayside. In June I only worked out 10 times and I felt the difference. I felt sluggish and puffy. I feel so much better mentally and physically when I workout and this is one I am putting back at the top of my list going forward.

  • Read two books a month

    • When I started writing this I thought that for sure I didn't make get 6 books in this quarter but I was wrong! I did it! I definitely read more at the beginning of the quarter than at the end but I got my books in so that's all that matters!

Monthly

  • Practice my photography skills

    • I took tons of photos this quarter on my iPhone while we were traveling but I made the decision to leave my camera behind. Traveling already means carry around a ton of luggage and adding in a bulky camera and multiple lenses just sounded miserable to me. While I may not have practiced with my DSLR camera I did work on getting better at composing my photos on my iPhone.

  • Cook a new meal

    • We still cook a lot and eat a majority of our meals at home but we haven't tried any new recipes. With our crazy schedules the last few months we've stuck with our tried and true recipes.

This Year

  • Complete Round 2 of Whole30

    • While I am not planning on doing another Whole30 I do still try to implement what I learned into my food choices.

  • Run a half marathon distance every quarter

    • I am not one of those people who can wake up and run a half marathon without training. I require consistent training to be able to run any kind of distance. The lack of training this quarter has made running even 3 miles a challenge for me. BUT - I've done it before so I know if I set my mind to it I can do it again and I will.

  • Travel to two places I’ve never been to

    • I am so happy we were able to travel so much this quarter! We traveled to London, Paris, and San Miguel de Allende. I'll be writing up my travel posts soon!

  • Finish Decorating our master bedroom and master bathroom

    • Honestly haven't worked on this at all. My time and energy hasn't been focused on decorating at all.

  • Refocus on my online business and create a plan for the year to come

    • While I still have my online shops up and continue to do customer support for them my focus has been transitioned to my freelance work. I am currently happy working for two incredible women with great business and hope to continue doing so!
